Accompanied by cantaores, guitar, and violin, the mesmerizing Karen Lugo fuses traditional flamenco and modern dance. Lugo appeared in the hit film by Carlos Saura, Flamenco Flamenco.

Fuego Flamenco VIII kicks off at GALA Theatre on Thursday, November 15 at 8 pm with Karen Lugo and Company, presented in collaboration with Madrid’s Fundación Conservatorio Flamenco Casa Patas, in a new piece, Flamenco: Territorio DeMente. This innovative work is choreographed and performed by Karen Lugo and also features artist José Maldonado.  Performances continue on Friday, November 16, Saturday, November 17 at 8 pm, and Sunday, November 18 at 3 pm. Flamenco: Territorio DeMente showcases the universality of dance and music as it transcends language, culture and emotions. “The winding roads of flamenco with its styles and rhythms,” states Karen Lugo, “invite us to a remote place where sadness, sanity, passion and instinct coexist."  The show also features singers Naike Ponce and Loreto de Diego; guitarists David Durán and Bettina Flater; and Víctor Guadiana on violin.
