GALA is proud to announce its 2007-08 season of world-class theater, music, and dance. “As one of the leading Latino theaters in the nation, GALA is proud to be at the heart of DC’s dynamic and diverse cultural landscape,” states Producing Director Hugo Medrano. “At GALA,” he continues, “culture is never a barrier but always a bridge, uniting us across boundaries and awakening
our identity, pride, and passion.”
GALA’s 2007-08 season includes works by and about some of the greatest masters of the Spanish language of all times-- Jorge Luis Borges and Federico García Lorca. The season also embraces authors and performers who are forging a new language, from spoken word and hip-hop by performance artists and poets like Paul Flores, La Bruja, and Quique Aviles; to twenty-first century storytelling with The Moth; to an explosive new play by Gustavo Ott. The season is underscored by the universal language of music—from GALA’s annual fiery flamenco festival, to the
romantic flair of the great Mexican composer-poet Agustin Lara.
