Critics and audiences have applauded our new surtitle system. Opera houses have
used them for years, and everyone is familiar with their cousin, the subtitle,
from foreign films. GALA has sought to make the best and most accessible theatrical
equivalent. We choose only the best and most readable translations, often commissioning
our own, which will in many cases be the first English translation of a play.
Then we adapt the translation, line by line, to ensure a well-paced, concise
and accurate set of titles that perfectly complement the performances. It has
become an added asset for accessibility for the hearing impaired and as an
educational aid for students of both languages.
