GALA serves a vital role in the metropolitan Washington, DC community by preserving and promoting Hispanic culture through a diverse program of Latin American theater, dance and music, and education programs that include bilingual children’s theater and training and performance opportunities for at-risk multicultural teens.
GALA’s mainstage season introduces the general public to the works of renowned writers such as Federico García Lorca, Lope de Vega and Pablo Neruda, among others. Our annual Flamenco Festival brings the time-honored beauty of flamenco to Washington audiences, and our GALita and Student Matinee programs introduce students from elementary and high schools to the magic of live theater in Spanish.
GALA’s Paso Nuevo program provides teens a safe space after school and allows them the opportunity to explore their personal and cultural identities while acquiring performing arts skills and building confidence and self-esteem.
Since ticket sales cover only a small portion of the cost of producing these vital theatre, education, and community programs, your support is critical. Please support GALA by making a donation today! ¡Gracias por su generoso apoyo!
