Dear Educator,
As you prepare for the new school year, we encourage you to enhance your curriculum with an enchanting performance of GALita, our imaginative children’s theatre company. During GALA’s 36th Season, GALita will present Las aventuras de Don Quijote de La Mancha, a special adaption of the greatest Spanish novel of all time - Don Quijote de La Mancha
Written by Miguel de Cervantes, Spain’s most prominent novelist and playwright, Don Quijote tells the story of a middle-aged gentleman from La Mancha who is obsessed with the chivalrous ideals he finds in books he has read. With his loyal sidekick, Sancho Panza, Don Quijote takes up his lance and sword to defend the helpless and destroy the wicked in a magical adventure.
The play was written by Patricia Suárez with a bilingual adaptation by Cornelia Cody, and will be directed by GALA’s Artistic Director Hugo Medrano. This production is guaranteed to inspire your students’ creativity, while immersed in a bilingual environment. The play is especially suitable for children 7 to12 years old. Performances will be held at the GALA Theatre on 3333 14th Street, NW in Washington, DC. Tickets are $10.
**Student weekday matinees for Don Quijote y Sancho Panza are scheduled for November 1-10; February 20, 22, 27 and 29 at 10:30 am.**
To make your attendance at a GALita performance more rewarding for both you and your students, we can provide the following:
• An electronic copy of the script (available upon request).
