One of the “best undistributed films of 2023” (Film Comment) and winner of the Best Argentine Director and Audience Awards at the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (BAFICI), the second feature by Argentine writer-director Martín Shanly is a witty comedy of errors that tells the story of Arturo (played by the director himself). He attends the wedding of his former best friend, but on the way between the church and the party, he is involved in a bizarre car accident from which he manages to escape unscathed. From that moment on, a series of memories begin to unfold in the form of flashbacks that involve the most significant events and people of his recent times. As he proceeds to get drunk and high, the past and the present merge in an uncomfortable and humorous way, forcing him to confront delayed griefs as well as the darkest aspects of his personality.
Uno de los "mejores filmes no distribuidos de 2023" (Film Comment) and ganador de los Premios a Mejor Director Argentino y Mejor Audiencia en el Festival de Cine Independiente de Buenos Aires, la segunda película del guionista y director Martín Shanly es una ingeniosa comedia de los errores que cuenta la historia de Arturo (interpretado por el director). Arturo asiste a la boda de su antiguo mejor amigo, pero en el camino entre la iglesia y la fiesta se ve involucrado en un bizarro accidente de automóvil, del cual sale ileso. Desde ese momento, comienza a tener recuerdos sobre los eventos y las personas más importantes de su pasado reciente. Mientras se emborracha y se droga, el pasado y el presente se entremezclan de forma humorística, pero incómoda, forzando a Arturo a enfrentar duelos no resueltos y los aspectos más oscuros de su personalidad.

Cada una de ellas analiza la condición humana en virtud de la intermitente lluvia en la desordenada metrópolis. Set in Monterrey, this satirical comedy about the ambitions and aspirations of upper-middle-class Mexican society follows former popular boy-band member Billy Lozano, played by Roberto Quijano, who is now a thirty-something, unhappily married man. His suburban routine—taking care of his infant son and loathing his wife’s poorly behaved lap dog—changes when he meets Mónica (Diana Bovio), who’s a fan of the band and moves next door. Mónica inspires Billy to pick up the guitar again and try to make sense of his life.
Ambientada en Monterrey, esta comedia satírica sobre las ambiciones y aspiraciones de la clase media-alta mexicana narra la historia del popular ex-integrante de una banda musical Billy Lozano (interpretado por Roberto Quijano), quien ya es un treintañero, infelizmente casado. Su rutina diaria, que incluye cuidar a su bebé y quejarse del mal comportamiento del perro de su esposa, cambia cuando conoce a Mónica (Diana Bovio), quien es una fanática del grupo musical y se muda a la casa de al lado. Mónica inspira a Billy a retomar el toque de guitarra para darle sentido a su vida.

This marks the beginning of a wild science fiction documentary about one of the most intriguing UFO cases in recent history. A Twilight Zone-esque exploration where truth and lies intertwine to create a mythological delusion with thousands of followers—only fully understood by delving into the mind and enigmatic past of its central protagonist.
En los años 80, durante la dictadura del General Augusto Pinochet, un grupo de entusiantas de la radio entablaron comunicación con misteriosos seres que decían vivir en "La isla de la amistad" y tener lazos cercanos con los extraterrestres. Este argumento marca el inicio de un documental de ciencia ficción sobre uno de los más intrigantes casos de OVNI en la historia reciente. Al estilo de "La dimensión desconocida", se desarrolla una exploración en la que la verdad y la mentira confluyen para conformar una creencia mitológica con miles de seguidores, la cual solo puede ser comprendida al adentrarse en la mente y el enigmático pasaso del protagonita de la historia.

The incomparable Cuban-born star Ninón Sevilla (Aventurera, Victims of Sin) shines in the boldly crafted and tumultuous musical melodrama Take Me in Your Arms as Rita, a young woman from a small coastal village in Veracruz and the daughter of a poor fisherman. To pay off her father's debts, she leaves her town and is exploited by several men, including a married politician who turns her into a famous dancing star—all while relentlessly seeking to reunite with her true love. Beautifully lensed by renowned cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa, director and co-writer Julio Bracho's expansive melodrama about class struggle and erotic tension features some wonderful song-and-dance sequences from Sevilla, who also produced the film, uncredited, alongside brothers Guillermo and Pedro Calderón. Sevilla's screen magnetism guides the audience through the film, culminating in a deeply satisfying finale.
La incomparable actriz cubana Ninón Sevilla (Aventurera, Víctimas del pecado) brilla en este magistralmente realizado melodrama musical al interpretar a Rita, una mujer joven oriunda de un pequeño pueblo costero en Veracruz e hija de un pescador pobre. Para saldar las deudas de su padre, Rita abandona el pueblo y es explotada por varios hombres, incluyendo un político casado que la convierte en una famosa bailarina, todo mientras busca reunirse con su verdadero amor. Bellamente filmado por el reconocido cinematógrafo Gabriel Figueroa, el melodrama del director y co-guionista Julio Bracho sobre lucha de clases y tensión erótica presenta maravillosas secuencias de baile y canto de Sevilla, quien también produjo el filme, sin obetner crédito, junto a los hermanos Guillermo y Pedro Calderón. El magnetismo logrado por Sevilla en la pantalla guía a la audiencia a través de la historia, que tiene un final satisfactorio.

Featuring stellar performances from a wonderful ensemble cast including Estefanía Piñeres, Emmanuel Restrepo, Patricia Tamayo and Diego Cremonesi, the second feature film by writer-director Natalia Santa is an engrossing character study that follows a woman’s journey to forge her own path.
Mariana, una joven mujer colombiana que trata de superar los retos de la adultez, trata de ganarse la vida en un centro de llamadas, toma clases de alemán y lidia con una familia disfuncional. Al tiempo que sueña despierta con escapar su realidad e ir a recorrer el mundo, particularmente la isla mediterránea Malta, una recién iniciada relación con un compañero de clases la obliga a confrontar los verdaderos motivos tras su deseo de irse.
